RDLAC Garden Room – @Studio_Bark The Garden Room is community project for Royal Docks Learning & Activity Centre in Newham, East London. This project is a charitable evolution of Studio Bark’s hugely successful Bark Live-Build 2015 project @ Warren Lodge, Norfolk. Studio Bark worked on this project because the whole team believes in the importance of community, diversity and education. Studio Bark have delivered a community garden space in RDLAC’s courtyard following a snappy two week live-build, in association with The University of East London. The structure itself is very simple, but incorporates a long pop-up hatch window (powered by reclaimed car-boot pistons), a modular (locally sourced) Douglas Fir skin and a modular green roof. Margin Collective’s charity pavilion is designed to raise awareness and resources for the Save the Children, Syrian child refugee crisis appeal, donations can be made to the appeal here. The parts were CNC cut from Spruce Plywood and then assembled onsite with wedges to secure the parts. Through the support of the RIBA, the winning proposal is on display at RIBA , 66 Portland Place part of the London Architecture Festival, from the 21st of June to the 6th of August 2016  Constructing Communities Exhibition. Ramboll designed and built a new covered seating space for Cambridge charity, Papworth Trust, donating their time and expertise to carry out the design and construction. Formed from 15mm thick CNC cut plywood and fixed together with 216 hinges, the canopy spans 5m. Each panel for the canopy was individually decorated on the interior by the clients from the Trust.
