British designer Max Lamb and Danish manufacture Really, produced 15 piece of free standing furniture for Milan design week showing the wide variety of techniques that can be used to fabricate furniture and 3D projects using Really’s newly developed recycled textile board. “Really” panels are manufacture from waste cotton, denim and wool, using high pressure and heat. Max Lamb’s installation for Really is on show until 9 April at Via Pietro Maroncelli 2017 as part of this year’s Milan design week. RDLAC Garden Room – @Studio_Bark The Garden Room is community project for Royal Docks Learning & Activity Centre in Newham, East London. This project is a charitable evolution of Studio Bark’s hugely successful Bark Live-Build 2015 project @ Warren Lodge, Norfolk. Studio Bark worked on this project because the whole team believes in the importance of community, diversity and education. Studio Bark have delivered a community garden space in RDLAC’s courtyard following a snappy two week live-build, in association with The University of East London. The structure itself is very simple, but incorporates a long pop-up hatch window (powered by reclaimed car-boot pistons), a modular (locally sourced) Douglas Fir skin and a modular green roof. The sculptural acoustic diffuser for the atrium of the Lycee Francais School, Kensington, London was designed by Wayward Architects to reduce noise levels and add a sculptural feature. This Dalston extension needed an imaginative solution to gain height and space from the small urban plot. MW Architects designed a lightweight double curved, self-reciprocating, cantilevering composite timber roof structure. The roof curves in both directions, creating two lower corners towards the adjacent neighbour. The curves also give the roof structural integrity for overhanging to shade the glazed elements.
